ELECTROTHERAPY – is a field of physical therapy, which uses for medical purposes direct current, modulated medium frequency currents and pulsed currents of low and medium frequencies. Therapeutic effects of current are intended to alleviate pain by improving nutrition and blood supply to the tissues stimulated, increasing the absorption of edema and exudates, thus accelerates tissue regeneration processes.
Galvanization – this is an electrotherapeutic procedure which is based on a flow of direct current through a given part of the body. It has a soothing effect on the sensory nerves (analgesic), and stimulates motor nerves.
Indications: neuralgia, osteoarthritis and arthritis of the spine, peripheral circulatory disorders
Contraindications: changes in the skin, cancer, acute coronary insufficiency
Iontophoresis (galvanization + drug) – is the introduction through the skin to tissues of a particular drug substance using direct current. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects.
Indications: arthritis and tendon sheaths, pain syndromes of different etiologies, difficult bone fusion, scars and scar contracture, inflammation of the skin and soft tissue, abnormal vascularity of tissues, nerve pain and nerve damage.
Contraindications: changes in the skin, cancer, acute coronary insufficiency
Diadynamics (DD) – also called Bernard currents. They are divided into several types, differing in frequency and intensity of alternating current. They improve blood circulation and nutrition of tissues, reduce swelling and, depending on the applied current, result in an increase or decrease in muscle tone.
Indications: back pain, rheumatism, neuralgia, post-injury disorders, muscular atrophy, shingles, post-injury edema, frostbite.
Contraindications: pacemaker, purulent skin lesions, acute inflammation around the use of the procedure, cancer, bleeding, fever.
Interference currents (Nemec) – These are medium frequency currents modulated in amplitude at low frequency. By rhythmically changing the frequency they operate on skeletal muscle spasms, stimulate the muscles to contract (improve peripheral circulation), produce an analgesic effect, improve processes of tissue nutrition and metabolism.
Indications: pain syndrome, edema, urinary incontinence, superficial and deep circulatory disorders, osteoarthritis and spondylitis, sciatica, brachial, intercostal neuralgia
Contraindications: pacemaker, purulent skin lesions, acute inflammation around the use of the procedure, cancer, hemorrhaging, bleeding, fever.
TENS – transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation with low-frequency currents. TENS electrostimulation is a clinically proven, non-invasive, non-pharmacological analgesic therapy. It is widely used to relieve both chronic and acute pain.
Indications: post-operative pain, intervertebral discs, headaches, rheumatic diseases, neuropathies, skin ulcers, wounds, swelling.
Contraindications: pacemaker, strong arrhythmia, epilepsy, cancer, pregnancy, acute inflammation around the area of application, purulent skin lesions.
Electrical stimulation – a treatment using pulsed DC current and medium-frequency current. The aim of treatment is to stimulate the muscles to contract. It is performed by electrostimulation of an affected muscle (with damaged motor nerves) or healthy muscles in order to strengthen them or improve peripheral circulation.
Indications: paresis, atrophy, muscle weakness, after muscle paralysis conditions or after removing dressing, neuromuscular diseases.
Contraindications: purulent skin inflammation, epilepsy, pregnancy, pacemaker, arterial occlusive disease, cancer, venous thrombosis.
Kotz currents – are medium-frequency currents applied to the electrical stimulation of weakened muscles (with proper nerve supply) to increase their mass and strength, as well as a warming training of deep muscles. They improve metabolism and reduce muscle tension, acting as an analgesic in the area of stimulation.
Indications: prolonged immobilisation of muscles, conditions after fractures, flat feet, muscle weakness.
Contraindications: purulent skin lesions, a pacemaker, cancer, pregnancy, spastic paralysis, acute inflammations in the area of application.
Trebert’s currents – this is an ultra-stimulating current with a potent analgesic. It evokes a strong tremor, the effect of which is muscle relaxation. This treatment is also called current impulse massage. The action of Trebert’s currents on the nervous system obtains improvement of blood flow and tissue nutrition, including in cases of peripheral circulatory disorders. The procedure is used to treat: neuralgia, ischemic limb syndrome, and helps in the treatment of hard to heal wounds.
TERAPULS – the therapeutic effect of this pulsed field is the delivery of energy into the body of a very high frequency with a very short time of impact and a long pause following each pulse. Terapuls is well suited to the treatment of nerve pain, and peripheral circulatory disorders, chronic inflammation of the nerves, sinuses, ear, larynx injuries such as fractures and sprains, it gives an anti-inflammatory, analgesic effect and most importantly against edema.
SHORTWAVE DIATHERMY – physiotherapy treatment, the method consists of the local heating of tissue under the influence of strong electric or magnetic fields, which contributes to muscle relaxation and relieving pain sensations. This process is used in the degeneration of the spine, nerve pain and inflammation of nerves. It is also helpful with chronic sinusitis and bronchial catarrh.
MAGNETRONIC – is a physical treatment consisting of the use of a slow-changing magnetic field that influences the physical metabolism and increases the energy metabolism. The treatment has analgesic, sedative, anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling effects. It improves tissue respiration processes, accelerates the healing of wounds and fractures. Treatments can be performed by plaster, bandage and clothing. The indications for surgery are disturbed wound healing, osteoarthritis, peripheral circulatory disorders, neuroinflammation.
LASER THERAPY – a low-energy Biostimulation Laser Treatment is a modern physical method to provide to a specific location of the body energy in the form of light. It acts directly on the processes of tissue without damaging them. The biostimulation uses laser radiation in the infrared and red range, because it penetrates deep into the tissues. Laser therapy has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, resorption effects and accelerates wound-healing processes. It brings improvements in degenerative diseases of the joints, locomotor dysfunction, periarticular inflammation and difficult to heal wounds.
DERMATOLOGICAL UV LAMP – a type of phototherapy which has a very positive effect on the skin. It is very useful in the treatment of dermatological conditions, including: psoriasis, atopic and seborrheic dermatitis, acne and vitiligo.
BIOPTRON – light therapy can naturally enhance regeneration and maintain the body’s balance, which helps the body release its own healing potential, supports the process of bio-stimulation, in a positive way to stimulate various biological processes in the body and thereby enhances body functions. It is used to treat any pain, skin problems, rheumatic conditions, allergies, difficult to heal wounds.
SOLLUX – a phototherapeutic procedure that utilizes infrared radiation which is sent through one of the filters – red or blue. The red Filter is used in the treatment of inflammation in soft tissue, accelerating the resorption of effusions, treating damage to the skin and poorly healing wounds, myalgia, muscle tension reduction (especially before a massage or kinesitherapeutic exercise). The blue filter is used to relieve pain, in post-injury nerve pain.
ULTRASOUND – the treatment uses mechanical vibrations at a frequency of 800-24000 kHz. The primary effect of ultrasound on the mechanical action of tissue is called “micro-massage”, caused by fluctuations in the course of the pressure of the sound wave. A very important component of the activity is also the biochemical effect on the tissue, leading to improved oxidation. The result is an analgesic, reducing muscle tension, inhibiting the inflammatory processes, and producing vasodilation.
INHALATIONS – are a method of prevention and support treatment of many diseases of the respiratory tract, which consists of inhaling a diluted brine (oil or medicine) as an aerosol spray. Aerosol inhalation causes respiratory moisture, thinning mucus, makes coughing easier and normalizes the secretory function of the mucosa. It also enhances the immune system of the mucosa. The use of inhalation is indicated in diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract.
